Property Tax Assessment Appeal Deadline – 8/2/21
( Next Year Estimated 8/27/2022 )
ARE MY PROPERTY TAXES HIGHER THAN THEY SHOULD BE?
The first step is to determine whether your tax assessment is higher than it should be. Your assessed value can be found on your tax bill. If you don’t have a copy of your tax bill, send me an email to [email protected] with your home address and I will send you your assessment.
S.T.E.B. Ratio – The rate being used in 2021 is 8.9. If you take your assessed value and divide it by .089, you’ll get what the County believes your home is worth.
3 Comparable Sales – If your assessment is too high, I can provide you with 3 comparable homes that have sold in the last year.
Filing The Appeal – The form is a simple one-page Residential Tax Appeal Form, which you fill out and include the 3 comparable sales, along with a check for $50. The Board of Assessment will notify you by mail.
